As a key division of the Society, Regent Christian Online Academy (RCOA) specializes in partnering with home-learning families to provide a flexible, high-quality K-12 education. We bring the RCAS mission to life as a Provincial Online Learning School, offering innovative onsite and virtual programming across British Columbia. At RCOA, we are dedicated to providing a personalized educational journey that inspires lifelong learning and fosters spiritual growth in every student.
**Reports to: **Director of Inclusive Education
Key Responsibilities:
Overview: Regent Christian Online Academy (RCOA), a key division of the Regent Christian Academy Society (RCAS), is seeking a dedicated Education Assistant to support a student with a mid-year ASD diagnosis. This role involves providing specialized support within a Nanaimo-based community class, a Partners in Education class, and flexible in-home sessions. We focus on a Christ-centered environment where students grow in character and purpose, and we are looking for a candidate to help bring this mission to life for our home-learning families.****
**Core Competencies **
- Student Support: Ability to provide tailored educational assistance to a student with an ASD.
- Mission Alignment: A commitment to a Christ-centered educational environment and the ability to foster spiritual growth.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working across different environments, including traditional classrooms and private home settings.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the Inclusive Education department to implement specific learning supports.

Job Type: Part-Time / Contract****
FTE: ~ 0.39 FTE (Based on a standard 35-hour work week)****
Work Location: Nanaimo, BC
- Mondays: Community Class (9:30 am – 2:30 pm)
- Thursdays: Partners in Education Class (9:00 am – 3:00 pm)
- In-Home: Flexible scheduling
Compensation & Benefits:
● Pay: CA $20-29 hourly
● Benefits: Extended Health & Dental, Pension plan available upon eligibility.
As a faith-based educational institution, RCAS hires staff whose beliefs and conduct align with our Christian mission, values, and Statement of Faith. This role requires a genuine and reasonable occupational requirement (GOR) for the employee to affirm and support RCAS’s Christian beliefs and actively participate in a Christian church community. RCAS is committed to fair and equitable hiring practices within the scope of this requirement. Qualified candidates who meet these criteria are encouraged to apply.
** **Requirements & Qualifications:
- Certification: Completion of a recognized Education Assistant (EA) or preferably Special Education Assistant (SEA) certificate program.
- Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated experience or training in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and implementing behavior support plans.
- Education: BC Secondary school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Faith Commitment: A committed Christian who is a regular attendee at a Bible-believing church and can provide a Pastoral Reference.
- Alignment: Full agreement and alignment with the RCOA Statement of Faith and mission.
- Safety Clearances: A valid Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) is a mandatory condition of employment.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with home-learning families.
- Ability to work independently in both community classroom and in-home settings.
- A valid First Aid certificate (often required by school districts/societies).
