Position Overview

The Human Resources Coordinator (Canada Summer Jobs) position offers a great opportunity for the candidate to gain hands-on experience in core Human Resources functions within a dynamic, multi-site organization within the nonprofit sector.

As an Human Resources Coordinator , you will work closely with the People & Culture team to support initiatives that enhance employee experience and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment Support:

  • Assist with posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.

  • Help coordinate internship and seasonal hiring programs.

Onboarding & Orientation:

  • Prepare onboarding materials and assist with new hire orientation sessions.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with HR policies.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain employee records in HRIS systems.

  • Support payroll and benefits administration tasks as needed.

Employee Engagement:

  • Assist in planning and executing employee engagement activities and events.

  • Gather feedback and contribute ideas to improve workplace culture.

Special Projects:

  • Participate in HR projects such as policy updates, organizational effectiveness, and process improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility (see below).

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially over the phone and email.

  • Comfortable initiating contact with new people and representing an organization professionally and a willingness to learn

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) familiarity with HRIS systems is an asset.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Employment Details

  • Start Date: June 2026
  • End Date: August 2026
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • Compensation: $18.00 per hour
  • Work Model: Hybrid (in-person at Tropicana Centre, 1385 Huntingwood Drive, Scarborough + remote work)
