T2526-510 0.50 FTE Temporary Summer Grades 10-12 Online Learning Modern Languages Teacher

0.50 FTE Online Learning Teacher: Modern Languages 10-12 (French, Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, Mandarin, and other international languages)

Week 1 (20 days): July 13-17, 27-31, Aug 10-14, 24-28

Subject to enrollment.

Summer NIDES staff will work in teaching-teams.
-
This position requires on-site attendance at NIDES for all assigned days.
-
An alternating week position can only be filled if the complementary week can also be filled.
-
Summer positions can be combined so an applicant can accept a week 1 & week 2 position.
Preferred qualifications:
- A degree in linguistics or experience and training in two or more of the modern languages listed above.
NIDES teachers guide successful learning by providing personalized, online learning courses and fully utilizing instructional technology and software programs to assist and manage instruction. NIDES summer teachers commit to working in an inclusionary setting where they actively research, develop and maintain advanced online curriculum and support students, colleagues and parents. Preference will go to candidates with prior asynchronous online teaching experience and/or advanced training in the use of the required instructional technology and online learning.
All applicants applying for specific positions are also encouraged to apply as Summer TTOCs (separate posting).
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Ability to create and manage online courses, assignments, assessments and resources incorporating current pedagogical frameworks (i.e. project-based, personalized).

Ability to work with and provide tutorial support for students online.
-
Ability to support students with course adaptations and I.E.P.s
-
Ability to utilize the following online tools: D2L / Brightspace and MyEducation BC (or equivalent online learning management system).

Experience and skills with Online Learning technology support, course design/development in D2L / Brightspace.

Experience working collaboratively as part of a teacher team advancing methods in curriculum integration and personalized learning.

An understanding and commitment to the professional standards of Online Learning in BC.
