We are seeking an experienced Law Clerk to join our Financial Services Department in our Calgary office, working alongside our leading legal professionals to support financial services transactions.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with legal professionals at the Firm on various financial services transactions
- Conduct Personal Property Security Act (“PPSA”) searches and registrations across Canada
- Provide transactional support to legal professionals at the Firm, including managing closing agendas and deliverables, drafting corporate consents, resolutions and certificates, assisting with the execution and closing of financing transactions, and preparing closing records
- Organize and maintain client files and records using the Firm’s document management system
- Serve as a key point of contact, liaising with internal legal counsel, business units, clients, external lenders, and regulatory authorities
- Manage competing requests and meet deadlines while protecting confidential and sensitive data in compliance with Firm security protocols
- Assist with the implementation, maintenance and improvement of new technologies for financial services transactions, as appropriate
- Contribute to the continued design and improvement of our enhanced service delivery model for clients
- Undertake projects and other responsibilities on an as-needed basis
Position Requirements
Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of progressive experience as a law clerk, with specific experience in banking, in-house financial services, or corporate law.
Education: A Law Clerk Diploma or Certificate from an accredited institution.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in corporate law procedures, PPSA, and relevant financial legislation.

- High proficiency in using technology and ability to adapt to change
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A team player who also works well independently
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Disciplined execution and follow-through; excellent time management skills
- Customer service oriented
- Excellent problem-solving skills and problem-solving mindset
- Strong ability to learn existing business practices
- Familiarity with corporate or financing transactions
- Familiarity with the PPSA
