About the role

Tomlinson Environmental Services is seeking a Roll Off Route Supervisor to oversee daily operational activities for our roll off services. This role ensures efficient route scheduling, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and effective communication between drivers, customers, and the operations support team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong organizational skills and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Oversight:

  • Supervise daily waste and recycling collection operations for roll off clients.
  • Optimize routes and fleet utilization for maximum efficiency.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, sales, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

Driver Management:

  • Schedule drivers, ensuring adherence to timelines.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and ride-along evaluations.
  • Monitor compliance with hours of service regulations.

Health & Safety:

  • Conduct and document Health & Safety meetings.
  • Complete accident and incident reports promptly.
  • Ensure new employee orientations and safety training are completed.

Staffing & Performance:

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new drivers.
  • Address performance and disciplinary matters fairly and consistently.
  • Set goals and track KPI’s to coach the team to success.

Additional Duties:

  • Monitor truck cleanliness and compliance with MTO licensing requirements.

  • Cover dispatch duties during absences and handle emergency dispatch on rotational weekends.

  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid DZ License (or willingness to obtain within six months).

  • Knowledge of the waste and recycling industry, MTO and MECP regulatory requirements.

  • Strong computer skills; experience with Microsoft suite of tools and AMCS system is an asset.

  • Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).

  • Extended driving periods (approximately 80% of the time).

  • On-call availability on a rotational basis.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 annually. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
