Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Ansible Automation Engineer to lead automation initiatives within a large enterprise IT operations environment. This hands-on role focuses on designing and implementing scalable automation solutions to improve consistency, security, and operational efficiency across Windows and Linux server infrastructure.

The ideal candidate combines deep Ansible expertise with advanced systems administration experience, driving the transition from manual processes to automation-first operations while ensuring stability, compliance, and governance in large-scale enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade automation using Ansible, including reusable roles, playbooks, inventories, and frameworks
  • Automate provisioning, configuration management, patching, compliance enforcement, and operational workflows across Windows and Linux environments
  • Establish automation governance, standards, and reusable patterns aligned with enterprise best practices
  • Lead the transition from manual administration to automation-first operations and maintain source-controlled automation repositories
  • Provide senior-level administration and support for Windows Server environments (2019/2022), including lifecycle management, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core services
  • Administer enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, or equivalent), including installation, patching, system configuration, and performance troubleshooting
  • Implement OS hardening, security configurations, and compliance enforcement across both platforms
  • Automate routine operational tasks, reduce configuration drift, and develop runbooks and recovery procedures
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Security, Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to align automation with enterprise standards
  • Act as a technical lead for infrastructure automation initiatives and mentor operations teams
  • Promote automation adoption and contribute to enterprise change management and release processes
  • Provide strategic input into automation tooling and infrastructure standards

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure or systems administration experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on Ansible automation experience in production environments
  • Advanced experience with Windows Server (2019/2022) and enterprise Linux distributions
  • Strong scripting skills: PowerShell (Windows) and Bash/shell scripting (Linux)
  • Experience automating Windows systems using WinRM and Ansible modules
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, networking fundamentals, and enterprise infrastructure services
  • Experience working in structured enterprise or ITIL-based environments
  • Proficiency in Ansible (roles, playbooks, collections), YAML, and Git version control
  • Experience with patch automation, configuration enforcement, and enterprise monitoring/logging tools
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with Ansible Automation Platform, AWX, or Ansible Tower
    • Experience managing large-scale environments (hundreds/thousands of servers)
    • Hybrid/cloud experience (Microsoft Azure preferred)
    • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices
    • Virtualization experience (VMware, Hyper-V)
    • Knowledge of security baselines, CIS hardening, and compliance automation
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Ability to translate manual processes into scalable automation
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
