Pythagoras Academy is an exceptional co-educational independent school for students Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our school prides itself on a unique educational philosophy which champions the role of the Fine Arts. We believe in encouraging creativity in our students and consider it to be one of the most valuable and transferable core skills.
Contract: FullTime
Start Date: August 27, 2024
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to work effectively with students with varying challenges and unique needs,
- Able to provide intellectual and behavior support to students,
- Teaches prepared lesson plans and leads interactive learning activities
- Initiates and facilitates classroom discussions
- Incorporates appropriate technology and media in lesson planning
- Accompanies classes on field trips
- Promotes and maintains high standards of behavior, respect, and safety within the classroom
- Able to create a safe and caring relationship with students that supports their growth and development
- Develop a positive, safe culture through actions and words
- Integrate social responsibility and kindness into daily teaching and routines.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess or be in application of a valid BC Teaching Certificate
- Possess a Bachelors degree or higher qualification in education
- Models a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitment
- Fosters school mission, values and sense of community through student-centered decisions
- Effectively communicates with staff, parents and students
- Maintains professionalism through all school interactions and activities

- Technical knowledge: you are knowledgeable about how to help students to gain skills and a deeper understanding of concepts.

- Social-Emotional Intelligence: you are skilled at teaching in a way that helps students to feel safe to be themselves and to develop confidence.
Compensation: Pythagoras Academy teaching salaries are 5% above Richmond School Board salaries.
