Payroll and Benefits Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist reports to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll and administering employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and internal policies while providing excellent service to employees regarding payroll and benefits inquiries.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime
  • Verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies
  • ROE processing
  • Support year-end payroll processing including T4 preparation, reconciliations and audit support
  • Administer group benefit and retirement programs
  • Liaise with employees and assist with payroll and benefit inquiries
  • Preparation of all payments and remittances for source deductions (including WSIB) and employee benefits as well as journal entries including accruals, and monthly payroll reconciliations
  • Maintain payroll policies and standard operating procedures
  • Keep Dayforce modules up to date and look for areas of improvement
  • Generate reports
  • Human Resources support as required
  • Reception back up
  • Other duties as assigned

Wage range: $50,000 - $70,000

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in full-cycle payroll and benefits administration
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation preferred
  • Experience with Dayforce or similar HRIS/payroll systems
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards Act legislation
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
