Scope
The Wire Mill Supervisor shall plan, organize, and direct all staff, resources and activities on their shift in a safe and efficient manner. This position reports directly to the Wire Mill Manager. This position is for 2nd Shift at our Mississauga facility: 2:30pm-10:30pm Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Wire Mill Manager on an ongoing basis and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to manufacturing and production of products.
- Manage the production of WIP wire and Finished Goods with respect to safety, quality, productivity, and maintenance. This includes supervision of all applicable Wire Mill shift employees and team members.
- Conduct daily production huddles, review schedules, back-orders, break-downs, maintenance issues and quality issues. Ensure that Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Maintenance objectives are met on a daily basis.
- Manage manpower resources, including arranging overtime when required.
- Conduct any general duties, specific projects, or responsibilities as assigned by the Wire Mill Manager and/or Managing Director in a timely and professional manner
Equipment
Must understand all equipment associated with aluminum wire manufacturing, and selected QA and R&D equipment.
Procedures
Must be familiar with manufacturing and QA specifications, along with administrative procedures pertaining to the Wire Mill Supervisor’s area of responsibility.
Skills
- Must have the ability to work with people from different departments within the organization and oversee direct reports.
- Must understand manufacturing, engineering, and safety requirements and procedures related to the Wire Mill.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). SAP and Apriso experience a plus.
Training
The Wire Mill Supervisor shall be trained in all areas of production, quality, health and safety, and other selected areas of the company as directed by the Wire Mill Manager and / or Managing Director.
Education
High school degree or equivalent, plus technical experience. Technical certificate, college diploma, or university degree preferred.
