About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
As the Second Cook you will work directly with the First Cook to oversee food production within our
Cook‑Chill/Cook‑Serve Food Preparation system. You will follow standardized recipes and be expected to adhere to
and maintain high levels of Food Safety and Health & Safety practices, as well as follow organizational policies and
procedures. You will assist in the oversight of Food Quality standards to ensure high level standards are adhered to,
and maintained throughout day‑to‑day production. The ideal candidate should be a team player; have the ability to
mutli‑task; and have a good knowledge and understanding of the food service industry.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
* Minimum completion of Grade Twelve
* Completion of an Approved Cook¡¦s Training Course with Red Seal Certification, or a demonstrated ability to meet
the requirements of the job with past relevant work experience
* High level of knowledge and understanding of the HACCP program/standards is essential
* Safe Food Handling course required
* Knowledge of computer software and large quantity production equipment (ie. Ovens, Grills, Mixers, Blenders,
Steam Kettles, Skillets, Meat Slicers, etc)
Skills/Abilities:
* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to left up to 20kg
* Must have demonstrated leadership skills
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
Assets:
* Five years experience working in a large quantity kitchen.
* Understanding of working within budget.
Salary Range: $30.004 to 30.554
