The Procurement Agent is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance. This role plays a key part in supporting global procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost efficiencies while mitigating supply risks. The Procurement Agent collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, logistics, sales, and manufacturing to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and identify potential suppliers across one or more international markets; conduct preliminary market research and benchmarking.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities over the short, medium, and long term, including capacity, financial stability, and performance.
- Assess supply risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Director of Global Procurement.
- Support the development of initial contract drafts and sourcing strategies.
- Analyze supplier quotations and proposals, ensuring a fair comparison based on total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Lead negotiations with suppliers on pricing, volume, terms, and overall supply conditions.
- Establish, implement, and manage supplier agreements and contracts.
- Support cost modeling activities aligned with engineering requirements, logistics considerations, customs, and sales forecasts.
- Coordinate initial purchase orders and product launches with manufacturing plants to ensure smooth onboarding.
- Act as a key advisor to internal stakeholders throughout the procurement process, helping define scope and requirements.
- Develop and recommend packaging solutions to optimize transportation and logistics costs.
- Prepare, issue, and manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring clear and comprehensive requirements.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor performance to ensure continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills with experience in cost modeling and commercial analysis.
- Experience working with international suppliers and global sourcing strategies.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP) is an asset.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
