Description:
In accordance with the rules of the trade, you will either grow, maintain and propagate various groups of plants and create flowerbeds, massifs, mosaics, window boxes and other types of floral decoration, or prepare and apply plant protection products, sow seeds and create landscaped areas such as flowerbeds and shrubberies to beautify the city and its parks.

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of all public facilities, equipment, and buildings, in order to support sustainable development and improve citizens’ quality of life.
General responsibilities and goals:
- Carries out cultivation and maintenance work on various groups of plants such as annuals, perennials, woody plants, greenhouse plants, outdoor plants, aquatic plants, herbaceous plants, semi-herbaceous plants, epiphytes or other plants of the same type, as well as related work.
- Multiplies plants by sowing, cutting, layering, dividing, grafting and similar techniques.
- Prepares substrates, soils and potting soils, and performs transplanting, potting, planting, watering, hoop-tying, uprooting, etc., specific to various plants.
- Cares for plants: staking, pruning, recutting, pruning, hoeing, watering.
Job requirements:
The applicant must hold a college certificate relevant to the position from an institution recognized by the Ministry of Education, or a diploma in horticulture issued by the Montreal Botanical Garden, or other acceptable relevant training. She or he must have several years of relevant experience.
The applicant must have a good knowledge of:

horticulture;

horticultural equipment and tools.
She or he must also be knowledgeable in the following areas:
- spoken French and English, and written French;
- modern techniques and methods in horticulture;
- insects and other destructive agents, as well as the main plant diseases and their symptoms;
- phytosanitary products and fertilizers, directions for their use, and their toxicity levels;
- applicable safety measures.
Schedule:
36 hours a week
Possible schedule according to seniority:
Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
