The Opportunity – Laboratory/Facilities Technician

We are seeking a Laboratory/Facilities Technician at the Toronto office to provide essential hands-on support across our Geotechnical Laboratory and Facilities operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safe, efficient, and productive laboratory and facility operations, allowing Project Staff to focus on billable project work. This role offers a salary range of $21.50-24.60 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the geotechnical laboratory, including work areas, equipment, and collection systems

  • Transport, track, organize, store, and dispose of asphalt, rock core, and soil samples in accordance with established procedures

  • Assist laboratory staff with soil and materials testing as required

  • Support geotechnical field operations and site work when needed

  • Assist with equipment maintenance and upkeep

  • Maintain health & safety and equipment maintenance logs and documentation

  • Procure and deliver laboratory and field supplies

  • Perform daily and weekly facility maintenance and housekeeping, including cleaning work areas, equipment, sediment traps, eyewash stations, and waste removal

  • Maintain organization and readiness of tools, equipment, and storage areas

  • Manage office logistics, including courier reception and coordination

  • Ensure company vehicles and equipment are operational and site-ready, including seasonal preparation (e.g., snow tires)

  • Maintain exterior areas such as parking lots and outdoor common spaces

  • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles, carts, dollies, and facility systems

  • Perform tasks such as vehicle washing, trailer cleaning, and transporting vehicles for servicing as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting up to 50 lbs)

  • Comfortable working in dirty, messy, and outdoor environments

  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety

  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
