About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Sous Chef in day-to-day operations of the restaurant
  • Report to the Sous Chef regarding any deficiency or excellence in the Kitchen
  • Arrive on-site prepared and professional i.e. clean attire, sharp knives, markers
  • Ensure all dishes and prep are meeting Chef’s expectations and standards
  • Ensure all daily procedures are followed and maintained
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all spaces and kitchen equipment
  • Assist with mentoring BOH staff
  • Strict adherence to all health and safety procedures and policies
  • Ensure you are doing everything you can to ensure all guests' experience is outstanding
  • Work closely with the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation as necessary
  • Adhere to Food Handler standards according to Food Handlers policies
  • Adhere to Steam Whistle's service standards and policies

You will be offered various shifts including weekends and evenings, approximately 30 - 40 hours per week.
The hourly rate is $22-$24 per hour plus a tip-out program.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A desire to learn and improve
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Physically fit as long periods of standing, lifting and moving kitchen items
  • Solid understanding and practical knowledge of restaurant business principles and service etiquette
  • Team player, collaborative, detail-focused
  • Proven to perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Food health and hygiene certificate
  • 1-2 years of Cooking experience
  • Solid understanding and practical knowledge of restaurant business principles and service etiquette
