JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal, and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training, and referral resources.
JIAS Toronto is currently seeking a Program Support Student to provide program support and data entry. This full-time position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs and require the incumbent to be between the ages of 18 to 30 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. This position will pay up to $21 per hour; the contracts will be for a total 280 hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support in the administration, organizing and implementation of the Ready For School Program for newcomer children
- Book rooms, transportation, field trips, outreach support
- Collect and report attendance
- Coordinate field trips (in-person or virtual), coordinate friendly callers for isolated seniors
- Organize and distribute supplies
- Communicate and assist with outreach for volunteers and clients
- Enter data in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some post-secondary education or experience in Social Work, Social Services, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education, training and experience
- Experience working with newcomers, youth, and/or seniors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills data entry skills
- Fluency in languages that relate to the Agency client base will be considered an asset such as Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Tigrinya, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, etc
