About the role
Vancouver Hebrew Academy, the only orthodox Jewish elementary school in Vancouver serving a student body from age 2.5-14, is currently seeking Teachers On Call to fill in for teachers who are absent.
This is for occasional work. We will give you a call/email in the morning that we need a Teacher On Call when it is needed. We proudly offer a competitive salary.
At VHA we provide a warm and welcoming, family environment. Class sizes are small with extra one to one supports for those children who need it. With more than 40 years under our belt, VHA has a strong history of academic excellence in both Judaic and General Studies.
Our faculty are a committed and inclusive team with a positive attitude towards innovative, professional growth. Our culture fosters open communication and a supportive environment. New teachers are often paired with seasoned teachers to mentor them through their first and second years.

- Current TRB Certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Commitment to children and to supporting their individual learning goals.
- Skill in differentiating instruction and fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
- Ability to use a wide range of learning strategies and teaching styles according to the needs of students.
- A commitment to excellence in teaching, collaboration and ongoing professional growth.
- Possess a comprehensive background in the BC Ministry of Education core subject areas.
- Proficiency using technology to enhance the curriculum and a curiosity to integrate STEAM principles.
- Superb communication, creative problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Support the mission, vision and values of our school.
Candidates need not be Jewish to apply, but should have an appreciation for Jewish culture and values.
