Job Description:
**POSITION SUMMARY:**Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor, provides meals and snacks, performs housekeeping and laundry duties, and assists with the care of children.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and prepares meals and snacks in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and ensures that food supplies are maintained.
- Ensures food supplies are maintained within the established budget.
- Performs housekeeping and laundry duties.
- Ensures that health and safety procedures are maintained.
- Assists with the care of children.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Secondary school graduation; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Successful completion of a safe food handling training course (Level 1)
- Experience cooking and planning menus for large groups
- Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide as it relates to the Child Care and Early Years Act
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to work with young children and their families
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Must have and maintain First Aid Certification
- Must have and maintain an up-to-date record of immunization
- Prior to commencing employment, must provide documentary evidence of having undergone a one-step tuberculosis skin test
