About the Role
The Occupational Health Technician- III position at SureHire is responsible for administering a variety of occupational testing services to clients while providing exceptional customer service. A key function of this role is evaluating a worker’s strength, conditioning, mobility, and use of proper lifting techniques as they relate to the physical demands of the position they are applying for.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
- Administer occupational testing services, including Audiometric tests, vision screens, respirator fit tests, and pre-medical assessments (blood pressure, height, weight, etc.) ensuring high-quality results are achieved.
- Supervise Critical Strength & Mobility tests, ensuring proper lifting techniques are demonstrated and client heart rates and oxygen levels are within safe ranges.
- Collect breath, urine, oral fluid, and hair specimens following standard chain of custody protocols.
- Administer specimen validity testing and point-of-care testing, ensuring accurate interpretation of test results and application of log protocols.
- Complete client intake processes, which include greeting clients, verifying identity, creating client files, and managing necessary paperwork.
- Adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality protocols when handling sensitive client information, such as personal details and test results.
- Effectively resolve client conflicts with a calm and professional demeanor.
- Support administrative functions, including inventory counts, record management, client support, and other tasks as required.
Education & Experience
Required:
- University graduation in Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy OR Certification in Personal Fitness Training or equivalent.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED or equivalent.
Considered an Asset:
- Experience working in a customer service role or in a clinical setting.
- Experience with exercise testing and evaluating proper biomechanics.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of biomechanics and proper lifting techniques to effectively evaluate clients.
- Demonstrated ability to convey information clearly and concisely, both in written correspondence and during verbal interactions.
- Proficient in conflict management and de-escalation techniques to calmly and effectively resolve disputes.
- Ability to manage diverse personality types in customer service settings, ensuring positive interactions across a wide range of demographics.
- Ability to perform tasks with precision and correctness, minimizing errors.
- Ability to thrive and excel in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to navigate ethical dilemmas and uphold professional standards while prioritizing participant well-being and organizational integrity.

- Certified DOT Breath Alcohol Technician
- Certified DOT Urine Collector
- Certified Oral Fluid Collector
- Certified Hair Collector

Job Conditions & Screening Requirements
- Work Environment: Primarily based in an indoor office environment, though travel may be required to alternative SureHire facilities or job sites to perform occupational testing services. This position may require working extended or irregular hours and/or shifts.
- Dress Code:
- In-Office: Non-patterned scrub tops and bottoms in neutral solid colours with closed-toe shoes.
- On-Site: Jeans and SureHire issued shirts/sweaters/jackets are appropriate alongside closed-toe shoes.
- Screening: This is a safety-sensitive position.
- Pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing is required as a precondition to employment.
- A criminal record check and vulnerable sector check are required prior to employment.
