Leacock Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Orillia,Ontario and serves 145 residents. The community is approximately 30 km north-east of Barrie and is known for outdoor recreation, history, culture and lakeside living. Commonly known as the Sunshine City, Orillia boasts extensive waterfront trails and parks, a thriving arts and culture scene and a charming historic downtown teeming with excellent shopping and dining choices.

Join our team as a Life Enrichment Coordinator!

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is instrumental in fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for residents to ensure their well-being and satisfaction.

The Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of culturally sensitive activities for residents. These activities address spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs. A crucial element of this function is monitoring participation and ensuring residents maintain choice and autonomy in selecting activities.

The Life Enrichment Coordinator collaborates closely with other departments and residents’ families, facilitates resident connection with the wider community, and provides ongoing training to the team. They are also responsible for the capital and operational budgeting processes for the department.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits**:**

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field from an Ontario post secondary institution, or a post secondary diploma, degree or certificate granted in another jurisdiction that in the reasonable opinion of the licensee is equivalent.
  • Experience in the health care or relevant field/setting as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 ss. 72 (2) and Ontario Regulation 246/22);
  • Gentle persuasion approach or Montessori preferred;
  • Experience working with seniors in a long-term care setting;
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in individual and group program planning, implementation, and evaluation for those with differences in cognitive abilities;
  • Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education;
  • Must have knowledge of community resources, recreation program development and techniques;
  • Must be computer literate
