About the role
It is acknowledged that Central Okanagan Public Schools operates within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The School District enrolls over 25,000 students (including approximately 3,200 students who self-identify as having First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit ancestry from Canada). Central Okanagan Public Schools is located in the Central Okanagan encompassing the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. There are a total of 50 school sites with 32 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle schools, 5 Secondary Schools, 3 Learning Centres, an Alternate Education School, and an Online Learning School (K-12). Elementary School Counsellors
Applicants must have:
- a professional teaching certificate;
- a minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience;
- a master’s degree recognized by the Teacher Regulation Branch in counselling psychology (or a related discipline with a focus in counselling);
- training and/or experience as an Elementary School Counsellor as per School District Policy #510 and #510R;

Preference will be given to those applicants who:
- have both training and experience as a School Counsellor;
- have experience with grades K-6 age groupings;
- have Indigenous ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal).

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
