Team Leader - Mechanical Analysis, Electric Products
About the role
##Job Purpose
Dana is searching for a hands on technical leader to manage a multidisciplinary team of 5-10 people. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical and thermal simulation of electric motors and inverters across their lifecycle – from concept architecture through production release and field performance. You will own the technical roadmap, improve workflows, mentor engineers, and align analysis activities with program milestones and business outcomes.
##Job Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery:
- Own the analysis strategy and roadmap for electric motors and inverters, covering structural integrity, durability, and thermal management, across operating envelopes and duty cycles.
- Lead multi-physics modeling development and continuous improvement using FEA (steady state and transient), CFD, and thermal analyses.
- Oversee creation and approval of analysis standards, including methodologies, model fidelity, acceptance criteria per phase (concept, prototype, DV, PV), etc.; establish model correlation plans to test data.
- Review and sign off analysis deliverables (customer program roadmaps, analysis costs, reports, models, assumptions, and risk registers); ensure traceability to requirements and compliance standards, ensure tracking and updating of KPIs.
- Define test to analysis correlation plans; drive root cause investigations when targets are missed.
People & Process Management :
- Build, coach, and develop a high performing team (goal setting, 1:1s, maintain capabilities matrix, training plans).
- Continuously improve efficiency by setting priorities, removing bottlenecks, automating routine tasks, and enforcing standards and best practices.
- Resource planning & prioritization across programs; manage supplier/partner analysis statements of work and budgets, plan resource and hiring needs for future projects and continuous improvements.
- Collaborate cross functionally with product design, power electronics, controls, manufacturing, test labs, quality, and program management; respond to technical questions, support investigations into technical issues and align deliverables with design gates.
- Own technical reviews with clear decisions and action tracking, PPAP/launch support, serve as primary customer interface.
##Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Mechanical Design or Analysis (MS a plus)
- 1+ years of experience in high-voltage electric product analysis and/or design
- 2+ years leading engineers or technical projects.
- 7+ years of automotive or related industry experience
- Strong understanding of FEA methodology, durability/reliability concepts, materials (metals, plastics), and testing.
- Strong understanding of light and commercial electric vehicle systems.
- Experience correlating simulation to structural and thermal test data; ability to define instrumentation and test plans.
- Competence in managing/prioritizing/reporting multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and in complex matrix organizations.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills (in French and English), and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated expertise in structural analysis (e.g., Abaqus, feSafe, Nastran), NVH analysis (e.g., NASTRAN, Actran, Romax), 1D analysis (Matlab / Simulink), and thermal modeling (Simcenter, Abaqus, STAR-CCM+).
- Strong computer skills with programming and Python scripting experience
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), DFMEA, root cause analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Willing to work additional hours, as needed
