Nature of the work
The Francisation and SVI Teacher supports adult learners, many of whom are newcomers, in developing French language and professional skills to facilitate their social and workforce integration in Quebec.
Description of tasks
Francisation Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver French lessons adapted to learners’ levels and needs (speaking, reading, writing, listening).
- Promote functional French for daily life, community participation, and workplace communication.
- Assess learner progress and provide ongoing feedback.
- Use differentiated teaching strategies for diverse learning profiles.
- Maintain student records and collaborate with the educational team.
SVI Responsibilities
- Teach employability skills, including communication, professionalism, and workplace behavior.
- Provide individual and group coaching to support workforce integration.
- Assist students with job readiness (CV writing, interview preparation, career planning).
- Support students in setting and achieving vocational goals.
- Provide progress updates and participate in team meetings.
Desired Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, French as a Second Language, or related field, with a valid teaching certificate.
- Experience teaching adults or in Francisation (2–5 years preferred).
- Experience in vocational integration, coaching, or employability training is an asset.
- Strong communication skills in French and English.
- Organized, adaptable, and able to support diverse adult learners with professionalism and empathy.
