About the role
Overview We are seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our farm operations team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of agricultural machinery, including John Deere tractors, heavy‑duty equipment, light vehicles, and various farm implements. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with farm machinery, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced and safety‑focused environment. Welding or oxy‑acetylene skills are an asset but not required.
Responsibilities

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on tractors, farm equipment, and vehicles.

Perform routine maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and preventive repairs to minimize downtime.

Repair or replace components using appropriate tools such as hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments.

Fabricate parts or assist with repairs on equipment, vehicles, and tools as required.

Change and set up implements on tractors and ensure proper configuration.

Read and interpret manuals, technical diagrams, and schematics.

Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.

Keep all work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety expectations.

Attend and actively participate in safety meetings.

Follow all Occupational Health & Safety, WorkSafeBC, and internal safety procedures.

Identify safety risks or equipment deficiencies and report them immediately to a supervisor.

Maintain professionalism and courteous conduct with coworkers, vendors, and customers.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Skills
-
Must be eligible to work in Canada and able to provide required documentation.

Proven experience as a farm heavy‑duty mechanic, ideally with John Deere or similar agriculture machinery.

Strong understanding of heavy‑duty systems, hydraulics, electrical troubleshooting, and diesel engines.

Ability to diagnose issues using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
-
Welding and oxy‑acetylene skills are an asset but not mandatory.
-
Familiarity with farm materials, tools, and machinery and to change implements on tractors.
-
Ability to safely lift heavy components and operate equipment when needed.
-
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting.

Reliable, safety‑oriented, and detail‑focused.

Work cooperatively with supervisors and crew members.
This position requires a dedicated professional with a passion for maintaining high standards of safety and quality in heavy equipment repair and report concerns to management. Candidates are expected to follow clear directions and demonstrate consistency in follow‑up to ensure tasks are completed safely and correctly.

CA$96,000.00-CA$110,000.00 per year
