About the role

CanCap Group Inc. (“CanCap”) is an evolving, dynamic national financial services company with head office located in downtown Toronto. CanCap’s current core business is indirect and third- party originations and servicing of auto receivables, which has been built on a foundation of best- in-class people and processes. It manages the entire lifecycle of the receivable from credit adjudication through to contract administration, customer service, default management and post charge-off recoveries. CanCap is now expanding its operations into other consumer finance verticals such as unsecured consumer loans.

CanCap has made significant investments in its operations, IT infrastructure and processes to allow for robust, scalable and efficient on-going growth of origination and servicing activity across the consumer finance spectrum. CanCap’s excellence has also been recognized by a Schedule I bank whereby it is the primary partner for (a) an outsource of a full business line, (b) primary source of direct loan referrals, and (c) creating a unique, best of breed, consumer lending business platform.

Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst will play an important role in the CanCap’s accounting and finance team. The candidate will be responsible for managing funder reporting as well as financial reporting and analysis. This includes:

  • Completion of full cycle accounting activities under ASPE and IFRS accounting standards such as:
    • Preparation or review of monthly journal entries and supporting schedules
    • Reconciliation of key balance sheet and income statement accounts
    • Reconciliation of clearing accounts and resolve variances
    • Annual Financial statement note disclosure
  • Preparation of monthly reporting on defaults, delinquencies, and early terminations.
  • Preparation of monthly reports for the debt portfolio. Ensure completeness and accuracy of the report as well as prepare analytics.
  • Preparation of tranches for debt portfolio and communication/coordination with Funders to close transactions
  • Proactively identify and address the root cause of issues encountered during performance of tasks / analytical reviews and communicate results to executives
  • Assist with implementation of automation and efficiency improvement opportunities
  • Support of annual audit and funder site audits by preparing and maintaining schedules
  • Other projects, duties, and tasks as assigned from time to time

What you bring

  • 3+ years relevant work experience in the financial services field
  • Full cycle accounting experience
  • Post-secondary education with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)
  • CPA or CPA equivalent designation is an asset
  • Experience with Sage 300 ERP or similar accounting software is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Agile and analytical problem-solving capacity
  • Pride in achieving a high degree of accuracy within a fast-paced environment
  • Upbeat and results-oriented

Additional Information

Currently, this is a hybrid role that will be set-up for in office and remote work. You will be required to work in the office as advised by your manager. This may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of CanCap with reasonable notice.

Location of employment is at 11 Church Street, Toronto, ON, M5E 1M2. All interviews will be conducted virtually using Microsoft Teams.
