Overview:
As a Marine Service Technician Apprentice, you will be developing your skills, performing service and warranty repairs on boats, motors, and/or trailers in a timely and efficient manner according to manufacturer specifications.
You will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment, participating in training, assisting co-workers, completing jobs with efficiency and other tasks as required.
Service Technicians know a little bit about everything such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, etc. If you can do any one of these, we’ll teach you the rest!

Reports to: Service Manager
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Examine/troubleshoot and diagnose units needing repair and maintenance.
- Discuss repairs and communicate additional requests with the shop foreman and service advisor.
- Provide plan work procedures and labor time estimates to the service advisor and shop foreman.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all mechanical and electrical problems on boats, motors and trailers.
- Install accessories.
- Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help them understand how their unit operates and the work to be done (or completed).
- Install hitches.
- When necessary, water test unit with customers to verify work performed and/or explain how the unit works.
- Remain familiar with fibreglass repairs, decal application and painting process.
- Monitor repair time and update service advisor regularly.
- Maintain strict adherence to dealership policies on marine care and operation.
- Complete story and/or documentation for client repairs.
- Attend company and factory training and keep current with factory technical bulletins.
- Understand and follow federal, provincial, and local regulations (such as disposal of hazardous waste)
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (general equivalency diploma); or 6 months to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous RV technician and forklift experience preferred and considered an asset (2-3 years preferred).
- Propane License or RV1 or RV2 License required.
- Journeyman preferred.
- Valid driver's license and Technician Certification are desirable.
- Good manual dexterity and balance while working off the ground.
- Work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Like working with your hands and enjoy learning new skills and knowledge.
- Pride in workmanship and desire to attain a superior level of service.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow procedures.
- Motivated team player, energetic and enthusiastic
- Ability to periodically lift more than 25 kilograms.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude - problem solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Attention to detail, neat and orderly, general good health, and physical ability.
