**Job Requirements **

On-Call Aboriginal Child and Youth care workers are required to be available Monday-Friday for a variety of school and district office assignments, and will be eligible to apply for internal positions as they become available. You could be asked to work in any one of our schools or district offices, reaching all borders of Surrey and White Rock. All successful applicants are required to join CUPE Union Local 728. As per the CUPE collective agreement the wage for this position is $35.31 per hour.

**Working Conditions **

Aboriginal Child/Youth Care Workers participate within a collaborative, strength-based model that assists and supports Aboriginal children, youth and their families increasing their level of school success. Aboriginal Child and Youth-Care Workers provide enhanced services that support cultural, behavioral, emotional and social growth of children and youth. Aboriginal Child and Youth Care Workers work collaboratively with teachers who have the responsibility for the educational progress of all students.

Aboriginal Child and Youth Care Workers collaborate with school and district staff to assist in developing and supporting Individual Education Plans and deliver enhanced services to all Aboriginal students. Building strong relationships with parents and families of the students is essential in the role as an Aboriginal Child and Youth Care Worker.

Consistent with Section 6(1) of the Human Rights Code, Aboriginal ancestry is a bona fide occupational requirement for these positions.****

**Education and Experience **

Completion of a Child and Youth Care Program from a recognized program.
