COUNSELLOR
(1.0 FTE TEMPORARY )
School District No. 42 (SD42) meets the learning needs of approximately 17,000 students of all ages in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows and is defined by its determination to keep student learning and growth at the heart of all its decisions. With an annual budget of over $200M and over 2,000 staff, the school district provides K-12 educational services in 22 elementary schools, six secondary schools, and two alternate schools. It also provides a variety of certificate programs and relevant quality life-long learning opportunities through Ridge Meadows College and Continuing Education.
SD42 is looking for a qualified applicant interested in working as a Counsellor in our Safe and Caring Schools program, for a 1.0 FTE temporary position, effective immediately to June 30, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent. This position will be part of a team of educators who provide leadership to our schools. Reporting to the Principal, this position will primarily support and assist school counsellors in their school-based counselling roles and practice. The Counsellor will work as part of the helping teacher collaborative team.
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in counselling psychology or equivalent, combined with successful elementary classroom teaching and counselling experience,
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with other professionals including school based teams, and the ability to work as part of a strong collaborative team.
