Your Opportunity:
The Developmental Disabilities Mental Health (DDMH) team is an interdisciplinary team that assists with the psychiatric care and behaviour management of adults with developmental disabilities mental health and complex needs in the Calgary Zone. We are looking for a casual admin III to help support the Arnika Centre (outpatient mental health clinic) and the clinicians and psychiatrists that service this clinic, as well as our three other Addiction and Mental Health Teams, as required. The admin III will provide additional support to our busy team, utilizing accuracy and efficiency, while performing the following tasks: Answering telephone calls, greeting and welcoming clients and families, booking appointments for clients, updates to client’s demographic information, filing. Performing other administrative related duties as needed. This position requires effective communication with the public, clients, health care staff, physicians and other external providers. This position processes high volumes of client and staff inquiries. This position must work co-operatively with co-workers to ensure that there is a positive, effective and efficient work environment. This position must promote a healthy clinic environment; recognize safety issues and report any concerns appropriately. This position must maintain current knowledge of various computer programs. The Arnika Centre serves and supports clients with cooccurring intellectual disabilities and mental health concerns, the successful candidate must be comfortable working with individuals with complex behaviours and service needs.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have the ability to work with staff and clients and the public in an efficient, friendly and professional manner. Must be motivated, self-directed, and able to prioritize and keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary client care clinic. The ability to participate in team interventions to verbally and, if necessary, physically de-escalate anxious or agitated clients. Must be trained and proficient using Connect Care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Working knowledge of Microsoft computer software packages. Excellent telephone, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, make independent decisions and respond to the changing needs in a team, environment with minimal supervision. Prioritizes duties and workflow to ensure all assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner. Demonstrated strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy required. Must have previous experience working with clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with direct experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities will be prioritized. Preference is also given to those with experience in outpatient community mental health clinics or programs. Completion of recognized medical administration courses is considered an asset.
