As a Human Resources (HR) Associate 1, you will be the primary point of contact in an inbound service centre environment and will be responsible for receiving, evaluating, and entering information and completing transactions into PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM). Primary duties include:

  • Use multiple computer applications to reference and research information.
  • Analyze and process a variety of inquiries/transaction requests related to employee/position movements and changes.
  • Provide information to supervisors, employees, and the public on e-recruit and recruitment process.
  • Track, follow-up and collect employee and position information.
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries and provide clarification on benefits, union agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Verify and confirm large volumes of employee, job, and position records; enter data into PeopleSoft HCM system.
  • Determine eligibility of benefits coverage; investigate employment date, previous service, benefit status, validate transfer, and layoff/termination status.
  • Determine and communicate eligibility for pension plans.
  • Generate various reports, statistics, and spreadsheets.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2 year diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and at least 2 years of related customer service experience dealing directly with a wide range of inquiries, preferably in a business, HR, or call/service centre environment; OR
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and at least 1 year of related customer service experience dealing directly with a wide range of inquiries, preferably in a business, HR, or call/service centre environment.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
    • Experience working in a unionized environment interpreting collective agreements and/or in a fast-paced service centre environment, with prior work experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
    • Previous experience with PeopleSoft HCM and an intermediate level of proficiency with PeopleSoft HR HelpDesk.
    • A Human Resources degree.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact, diplomacy and integrity.
  • The ability to work in a highly structured, process and measurement-oriented environment.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Position Type: 4 Temporary (up to 12 months)

Compensation: Pay Grade 8 $39.00 - 52.14 per hour

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.

Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
