OVERVIEW
The Project Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, is responsible for leading projects that ensure patient care services are delivered with high quality, safety and consistency within the Diagnostic Imaging department, as well as broadly to support corporate projects. Working independently and under the direction of the the Manager of Strategic Growth and Expansion, Diagnostic Imaging, and in partnership with the DI Management Team and the Chief of Radiology, the Project Manager works with and works in partnership with various hospital teams , and is specifically able to provide relevant data analysis, project management and logistical support. This role will lead ongoing improvement changes within the hospital to ensure there is an ongoing focus on efficient processes and quality improvement.
A key focus of this role is the implementation of new and evolving clinical services, including the Interventional Suite within Diagnostic Imaging, as well as the transition of post-procedural recovery workflows into Diagnostic Imaging to enhance patient flow, safety, and experience.
The Project Manager supports strategic programs such as the Ontario Lung Screening Program (OLSP), Ontario Breast Screening program (OBSP), co-leads major capital and equipment initiatives (e.g., MRI upgrades, X-ray and ultrasound fleet replacement), and advances service contract optimization to improve financial sustainability and service reliability.
Through quality improvement, change management, and stakeholder engagement, the Project Manager drives continuous improvement and innovation, promoting patient-centered, timely, and efficient care while optimizing resource utilization and patient throughput.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This contract role will support project management activities in Diagnostic Imaging, as well as corporately within the hospital; they will work both internal to Michael Garron Hospital and on projects related to our Ontario Health Team work with community partners
- Lead the implementation of the new Interventional Suite within Diagnostic Imaging, including the development of a comprehensive care delivery model, establishment of clinical and operational workflows, and coordination of staff trainingand orientation in close collaboration with interprofessional teams and partner departments to ensure safe, high-quality, and integrated patient care aligned with organizational standards and best practices.
Lead projects to transition post-procedural patient recovery into Diagnostic Imaging, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery models.

Provide project management support for the Ontario Lung Screening Program (OLSP) and other strategic programs, including stakeholder coordination, performance tracking, and alignment with Ontario Health requirements.

Support the optimization of Diagnostic Imaging service contracts and the implementation of key capital and equipment projects (MRI upgrades, stationary X-ray, ultrasound fleet replacement, CCTA growth, and other DI projects as required), ensuring alignment with operational, financial, and strategic priorities.

Support assessments of patient flow and service delivery practices to identify and recommend improvement opportunities in patient care, staff safety, revenue growth, and/or cost optimization

Facilitate improvement teams to realize opportunities, assisting them to apply:

a variety of improvement methods and tools (eg: process mapping, root cause analysis, PDSA, reliable design, rapid cycle improvement)

project & change management principles (eg: development of charters, work plans, stakeholder assessments, communication plans, status reports)

structured data collection and analysis techniques to enable fact-based problem solving

Contribute to the development and delivery of learning workshops to build organizational improvement capability

Support on-going organizational readiness preparation for Accreditation Canada certification, as required
EDUCATION
-
Bachelor’s degree required
-
Regulated healthcare professional (e.g., Medical Radiation Technology [MRT], Nursing, Pharmacy, or other relevant health discipline) required, or an MHA/MHSc degree, or equivalent; MRT designation preferred.

PMP is Asset
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 to 5 years of experience designing and implementing quality/process improvement projects (in a hospital setting preferred)
- Performance improvement consulting experience preferred
- Highly developed skills in formatting/manipulating data extracted from various hospital information systems, and conducting analyses
- Strong team facilitation skills – able to provide multi-disciplinary team members with clarity on project goals and pathway to achieve success
- Excellent time management skills – can effectively manage multiple projects and address competing demands on the basis of priority
- Excellent capabilities with Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written – can succinctly convey the salient messages imbedded in large information sets
- Good work and attendance record required.
