FINANCIAL ANALYST

Salary Range: $85,431 - $106,782 per year

1.0 FTE Temporary Position (June 2026 to June 2027)

The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Financial Analyst working out of the Education Centre in Midhurst, Ontario. Reporting to the Manager of Budget and Financial Reporting, the successful applicant will provide analyses and projections in support of bi-annual and project specific budget development and monitoring, including financial reporting. As part of the Budget and Financial Reporting team, the Financial Analyst will assist in the coordination and preparation of the annual budget and annual revised budget, year-end financial statements, including the preparation of variance and year end position forecasts. This position contributes to the development of standards and methods for continuous improvement of service delivery within and outside the department.

Qualifications

  • University degree in business, accounting, or a related field;
  • A relevant professional designation (CPA), or progress towards the completion thereof;
  • Candidates may also be considered with a minimum combination of educational equivalency, including degree / designation requirements and progressive experience related to the Financial Analyst position.

Pertinent Skills and Experience:

  • Three (3) years related experience, preferably in an educational environment;
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with data management systems (e.g., Questica), and MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, presentation facilitation, and team coordination;
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, evolving environment;
  • The nature of this position may require travel to off-site meetings; mileage reimbursable at the Board established rate;
  • Attendance at meetings outside normal working hours may be required.

This is a full-time temporary position. The regular work year for this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve (12) month position is $85,431 to $106,782 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The normal work week for this position is thirty-five (35) hours.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,

even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
