Contract Type: Special Project Assignment – Summer Learning Teacher

Assignment Area(s): Grade 2/3 – Math on the Move (Math and Physical Education) (Improving Student Math Skills) (2 Positions)

Effective Date: July 6, 2026, to July 17, 2026 (8:15 am – 12:45 pm) (Instructional time is 8:30 – 12:30)

Please Note: The assignment in July may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position. Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 26, 2026, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement (Article B.29). By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).

Deadline for Applications: April 27, 2026 - 12:00 p.m.

**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: **

  • extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
  • successful experience in teaching prior Summer Learning courses
  • currently providing instruction and support for students to improve Math skills at the Grade 2,3 level
  • demonstrated understanding of and the ability to implement the Big Ideas based upon the Core Competencies for Mathematics Grades 2 through 3
  • ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices in order to measure and monitor student progress effectively
  • training and successful experience in teaching students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
  • provide regular reporting on student progress and demonstrate proven ability in involving parents as partners
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • demonstrated strong classroom management skills
  • willingness to take a leadership role in the development of this program
  • demonstrated ability, experience or training and a willingness to include learning outcomes for Physical Education at the Grade 2 through 3 level
