Summary of responsibilities:
The Advisor, Project Management - Screening Technology supports the successful delivery of the Automated Prohibited Item Detection Systems (APIDS) project by providing structured project management and coordination support. Reporting to the project lead, the role focuses on maintaining schedules, coordinating activities across stakeholders, monitoring progress and emerging challenges, and preparing concise status updates and decision materials to support effective delivery. The Advisor, Project Management – Screening Technology performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with specialization in Operations Management, Commerce, Business Administration, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in supporting program management, organizing and preparing a variety of documents and reports.
- Experience providing day to day project management support for complex, multi stakeholder initiatives.
- Experience identifying, tracking, and managing project challenges, dependencies, and emerging issues.
- Experience in analyzing operational performance data to recommend best courses of action.
- Superior English language writing skills in business, science, and/or technical writing.
- Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
This position is best suited to individuals with the following skills and abilities:
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively and independently under time pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Ability to influence decision-makers using strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to synthesize and interpret complex information and clearly communicate to others.
- Analytical thinking and sound judgment to understand and address business issues.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility, creative problem-solving, innovation.
Valuable skills include:
- Project management certification.
- Experience working in a government department or Crown Corporation.
- Experience in, or knowledge of, air transportation and/or security industries.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority's (CATSA) mandate, its operating environment, interrelationships with other government and industry stakeholders and SOPs.
- Experience in researching, developing and validating assessments/surveys.
- Experience using the MS Office suite of software products, including MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Project.
Specific work requirements:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
