Nisga'a School District No. 92 invites applications for a Data and Information Systems Specialist. This is a 7.5 hour a day position 12 month at the School Board Office starting as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated with initiative. The individual must have the ability to complete tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision and on a timely basis. This will be a regular position of 37.5 hours per week starting as soon as possible. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
**Duties and Responsibilities: ******
Data Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to date records in the data, information and record keeping systems (MyEdBC, EdPlaninsight, CLEVR, PowerBI).
- Assist with overseeing and verification of student demographics, enrollment, and attendance data.
- Assist with overseeing and processing student transfers, withdrawals, and graduations, ensuring all records are complete and accurate.
- Generate and distribute student records, including class lists, attendance summaries, and progress reports.
Record Keeping and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and district policies related to student data privacy and record keeping.
- Maintain confidentiality of student files, both electronic and paper-based, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
- Support the preparation and submission of Ministry of Education and Child Care reports, including student enrollment and achievement data.
System Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support to school staff.
- Configuration and maintenance of all aspects of the district-wide student information system.
- Troubleshoot data entry issues and resolve discrepancies in student records.
- Assist with the implementation and testing of updates and new features.
Reporting and Data Analysis
- Generate and analyze data reports
- Prepare ad hoc reports as requested.
- Support use of data to identify trends.
Collaboration and Communication
- Assist with the development and coordination of training and support.
- Work closing with all staff to ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians and external agencies.
Administrative Support
- Assist with the preparation of documents, presentations and materials for District meetings and events.
- Support the District's leadership and administrative team with other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12
- One year diploma or certificate in Office Administration, Data Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in data entry, record keeping, or administrative support preferably in a educational or public sector environment.
- Experience working with data management and record keeping information systems (e.g. MyEdBC, EdPlaninsight, CLEVR, PowerBI) is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data management software.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide coaching, mentorship, peer support and guidance.
