JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Coatings Manager, the Solutions Maintenance Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing the operation of the D.I. Water System, Boiler, and E-coat systems, providing guidance to production personnel on the chemical adds required to maintain the processes within normal operating parameters.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to the Technical System Procedures and Instructions.
  • Comply with all Company safety policies, procedures and rules.
  • Monitor inventory levels of process chemicals and orders replenishment quantities.
  • Act as the backup Waste Water Treatment Operator.
  • Monitor processes on a time schedule as outlined in the Control Plans and proactively makes necessary adjustments to ensure optimum process parameters are maintained by adding chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or product batches to correct or establish the formulations required to meet specifications.
  • Select the appropriate test method and test equipment and tests solutions used in the coating processes such as pre-treatment solutions, cleaning, plating, and paint solutions for chemical concentration, specific gravity and other characteristics.
  • Select samples for tests at specific stages in the production process and tests the parts or has the parts tested for a variety of characteristics such as; dimensions, coating performance, mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics of the coatings.
  • Setup or adjusts test equipment as required to perform the solutions tests following established procedures and safe practices to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Record test data, prepare graphs or charts of analysis data and record solution adjustments using established procedures or methods.
  • Participate in ISO / TS internal or external audits.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions, Calibrate instruments per established procedures and frequencies.
  • Participate in APQP activities such as developing and updating Process Flow Charts, PFMEA's and Control Plans.
  • Actively participate in PDT meetings, process improvement, Problem Solving and corrective action review and meetings.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers as required.
  • Conduct system audits of the production and support areas and provide reports of findings to area supervision and management.
  • Assist when required in the solution of shop floor problems.
  • Interact with customer to help reduce and eliminate PPM's including review of accumulations prior to PPM reporting.
  • Ability to travel if required representing the company during meetings.
  • Ensure the Standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education in chemistry related field and two (2) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in mathematics to perform calculations and analysis would be an asset.
  • Analytical ability and problem solving skills to recognize deficiencies and abnormalities and to recommend the appropriate corrective actions would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in the operation, calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment would be an asset.
  • A well-organized approach to problem solving, good record keeping skills as well as the ability to follow instructions and procedures would be an asset.

AGS’s main business is the supply of bumper impact system assemblies and complex high value added metal components. AGS has capabilities in stamping, plating, coatings, welding, engineering and design, and sequencing and assembly. Founded in 1947, with 8 facilities in Canada and the US and with over 154,219m2 of manufacturing floor space.

AGS has a distinctive expertise in chrome plating impact beams. AGS’s impact beams consistently exceed appearance and corrosion resistance standards and have an unsurpassed warranty record. In addition, continued investment in chrome plating R&D has enabled AGS to deliver superior quality, corrosion resistance and material reductions to its customers. AGS also has e-coat and zinc line facilities which provide corrosion protection to metallic parts which are not chrome plated.

AGS also has considerable know-how in stamping complex parts. AGS has more than 135 stamping presses in its facilities, with capacity up to 2500T, including tandem, transfer and progressive presses, many with very large beds to accommodate large parts. A sampling of AGS’s stamped products includes bumper impact system components, cross members, oil pans, control arms, hitches, pillars, beams and frame assemblies.

AGS also has particular skill in welding, including MIG, resistance and drawn arc, and has developed highly automated, flexible welding equipment to help reduce cycle time and improve yields and efficiency.
