Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare daily/weekly Quality reports for the QM.
- Monitor & collect information, data, statistics for month end reports for the QM.
- Support the General Manager and the QM to enforce new quality goals (KPI’s) based on product performance and customer satisfaction.
- In absence of the QM, attend various quality-related inter-departmental meetings.
- Develop inspection logs for new and existing products
- Review completed quality inspections logs and communicated issues or concerns
- Conduct inspections on customer returns and identify quality issues and recommend solutions
- Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and drive supplier performance improvements
- Keep track of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Develop and oversee product testing methods for new and existing products at different stages of production
- Organize quality testing studies and use statistical methods (SPC) to analyze data and identify irregularities
- Analyze dimensional layouts and make improvements where required as per customer requirements
- Investigate all non-conformity reports (NCR) and issue quality as needed
- Create and submit Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) & First Article Inspection Review (FAIR) to the customer, as required
- Coordinate internal audits to ensure consistency in company practices
- Conduct monthly audits for 9001:2015, and any other customer related audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Generate findings/CAR for Department Managers to address and to comply with the given standards.
- Organize audits on suppliers using various assessment strategies
- Train production staff and quality assurance technicians on quality standards and procedures. Develop QA Alerts when required.
- Maintain and file quality documentation including quality alerts, testing results and corrective actions
- Oversee and maintain the Calibration Program for the site and report any issues to QM. Calibrate measuring and testing equipment including gauges, scales, calipers etc.
- Develop, update, and implement work instructions and packaging specifications for various products.
- Help maintain the Document Control Program for facility.
- Assist the QM on employee yearly training (refresher) on SOP’s/WI, and other customer related programs.
- Any other duties assigned by the General Manager or the Quality Manager
Qualifications
Education & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
- 3–5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in the plastics manufacturing industry
- Experience with windows, doors, glass or building products is preferred
- Experience with extrusion manufacturing is preferred
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001
- Strong knowledge of quality tools (SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, GD&T)
- Familiarity with industry standards (CSA, ASTM, AAMA, NFRC)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and quality data analysis tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel advanced skills preferred), Minitab
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 2D/3D design programs
