**Education Assistant **
The Burnaby School District is seeking qualified Education Assistants for on- call assignments.
Education Assistants are responsible for providing support for students in and out of the classroom, and within the community. Specifically, assistance is provided in the following:
-
Behaviour management
-
Curriculum implementation
-
Social skills development
-
Personal care
-
Physical assistance
To be considered, candidates must have the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Completion of a one year minimum recognized program in special needs assistance or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a full range of students with special needs.
- Working knowledge of adaptive/assistive technology related to work performed
- Working knowledge of computer operation and software applications related to work performed.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures related to work performed.
- Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively at the level required for the job.
- Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.
Hourly Rate: $35.11 per hour.
