About the Position:
Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role is responsible for the day-to-day overall operation of the new ALS Whitehorse Service Centre. This is a key position that assists the Regional Manager in the overall operation of the location with respect to client services and customer relationships.
Specific Responsibilities
Client Services
- Coordinates the preparation of sampling supplies for client orders from direct requests as well as Bottle Requests via the ALS LIMS from other locations (ie Burnaby);
- Receive returned samples, re-pack as needed, and coordinate shipping (ground and/or air) to the ALS processing laboratory;
- Input shipping information, waybills, etc. for shipments into the ALS tracking system on MS-Teams or other systems including the ALS LIMS;
- Coordinate pickup of samples and/or delivery of supplies for clients as required using the ALS vehicle;
- Keep on top of supply inventory to ensure available for client requests and work with ALS Burnaby and other locations as needed, to order more stock;
- Ensure an extremely high level of custom service and professionalism is adhered to exceed client expectations.
Business Development and Client Retention
- Relay business development opportunities and/or client concerns to the Regional Manager;
- Provide information to clients on ALS capabilities and services, where possible, and/or relay ALS Project Manager or Manager contact information for follow-up, as required;
- Develop business relationships with clients in conjunction with Management and Sales;
Quality
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for Receiving samples, preparing Bottle Requests and other Client Services activities;
- Fosters a working environment that ensures quality targets are met or exceeded;
- Ensures root cause investigations are properly conducted for corrective actions and solutions are effective.
Other
- Keep an clean and organized working environment for efficiency and client experience;
- Ensuring that the location is controlling costs as much as possible in order to achieve financial targets;
Safety
- Complies with all internal systems and procedures of the Company;
- Act as the Safety lead for the location;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures including Safe Working and Driving activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Am extremely strong customer service focus;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Proven leadership ability;
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; Experience in training staff an asset for future growth plans;
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of post-secondary education (degree, certificate or diploma) in Science or a related discipline (preferred);
- Minimum 5 years work experience in the customer service;
- Ability to learn new systems (ALS LIMs, other) and the required supplies for environmental sampling and analyses;
- First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain one (optional);
- Valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license with clean driving history (abstract required).
Physical Demands
- Able to lift 50lbs and carry for short distances;
- Ability to drive and load/un-load supplies and sample shipments (coolers);
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
- Ability to stand for a full shift;
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
