Burns Lake is located in the heart of the Lakes District, an area boasting over 4800 kilometers of lake shoreline. The village has a diverse population of 2,000 residents and serves a surrounding area of approximately 13,000 residents of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. With two of the six local First Nations communities located within municipal boundaries, Burns Lake has a strong sense of culture and incredible local talents to showcase. Housing in Burns Lake is very affordable, including lakefront property! There are two K-7 schools, a K-9, a 8-12 and a 10-12 public school within the Lakes District Area. Additionally, there are two Independent Mennonite schools and one College of New Caledonia campus within the community. It is centrally located between Smithers (1.5 hrs) and Prince George (2.5 hours) for ease of access to airports VIA Rail serves Burns Lake year round and stops right in the centre of Burns Lake’s downtown core. Practice Details:

A beautiful Northern BC lakeside community is seeking a full-time family physician to join their cohesive team of dedicated physicians at the Lakes District Hospital & Health Centre. Participation in the Emergency rota is essential, with a group of 5-7 sharing call. RTVS are in place for added ED support. Services are augmented with visiting specialists. Obstetric services are not provided in this community, with deliveries accommodated in nearby Vanderhoof or Prince George.

The Hospital is a 15 bed facility that opened in 2015. It sees an average of 12,000 ER visits per year. The hospital houses 13 acute care beds, 1 isolation room, 1 palliative care room, emergency services, diagnostic imaging and laboratory, as well as a primary care home with three full time physicians.

New grads are welcome! Full support structure in place for call group.
