About the role

Electrical Shop Lead

MSCP Heat Management Solutions
Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta
Employment Type: Full-Time

Build More Than a Shop. Build a System.

At MSCP Heat Management Solutions, we do not believe great companies are built through silos, bureaucracy, or endless handoffs. We believe performance comes from connected systems, clear flow of work, practical leadership, and people who care about doing things right the first time.

We are seeking an Electrical Shop Lead to help guide and strengthen our electrical fabrication and assembly operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands shop execution, values quality, and wants to help shape a growing organization built around continuous improvement.

This is an opportunity to join a company evolving quickly, where strong people can make a visible impact.

Position Summary

The Electrical Shop Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day shop operations related to electrical assembly, heat trace systems, panel work, fabrication support, and readiness of materials for field deployment. This role ensures work flows smoothly, standards remain high, and priorities stay aligned with project needs.

The successful candidate will lead from the floor, support team members, solve constraints, and create an environment where quality and productivity improve together.

Key Responsibilities

Shop Leadership & Execution

  • Lead daily electrical shop activities including assembly, wiring, testing, staging, and preparation of materials
  • Coordinate labour, tools, and materials to ensure productive workflow
  • Remove bottlenecks that slow production or create rework
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused shop environment
  • Support urgent operational needs with practical decision-making

Quality & Standards

  • Ensure all work meets code requirements, drawings, specifications, and client expectations
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and quality checks before release to site
  • Reduce errors, deficiencies, and repeat work through stronger process control
  • Promote pride in workmanship and professional standards

Planning & Coordination

  • Work closely with operations, project management, procurement, and field teams to align priorities
  • Provide realistic completion timelines and status updates
  • Ensure shop readiness for shutdowns, maintenance work, and project mobilizations
  • Assist with inventory, material tracking, and replenishment needs

Team Development

  • Lead apprentices, journeypersons, and shop personnel through coaching and daily direction
  • Support training and skill development of newer employees
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and professionalism
  • Help create future leaders within the organization

What We’re Looking For

  • Journeyperson Electrician certification preferred
  • Strong background in industrial, commercial, or electrical fabrication/shop environments
  • Experience with heat trace, control systems, or industrial electrical packages is an asset
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a shop setting
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Practical problem-solver who remains calm under pressure
  • Comfortable using digital systems for tracking, communication, and workflow management

Why Join MSCP

  • Join a growing Alberta-based industrial company with real momentum
  • Be part of a systems-driven organization focused on improvement, not politics
  • Opportunity to shape processes, standards, and future growth
  • Work alongside strong field and operational teams
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Benefits and long-term opportunity available

Our Approach

We believe local optimization creates system-wide problems. We look for leaders who can see the bigger picture, strengthen flow, and help the whole organization win.

If you are someone who takes ownership, values quality, and wants to lead meaningful work in a growing shop environment, we would like to hear from you.
