Are you a safety focused forklift operator seeking a 1st shift opportunity in the metals service center industry? Castle Metals is looking to hire a Warehouse Operator with 1-3 years of relevant experience at our Toronto location

Compensation: $27 - $28/hr CAD
The Warehouse Operator performs a variety of responsibilities in the warehouse including pulling/checking customer orders, moving materials, loading/unloading shipments, and general material handling. They will operate the necessary equipment to store and move products throughout the warehouse.
This role will have exposure to powered industrial equipment. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to enter the plant floor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Essential Primary Responsibilities:
- Loads and unloads trucks in an efficient manner.
- Performs a variety of material movement tasks for order filling, receiving, and loading.
- Safely uses assigned power equipment to move material and meet order requirements (crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, forklift, etc.).
- Follows customer requirements to select, fill and package orders.
- Attaches bundle tag to material being shipped and stages for shipment.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works under immediate supervision.
- Notices and reports defects and/or excessive wear and tear of equipment; May perform set-up and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Saw processing.
- Pull, pack, pick.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Stooping, standing, and manual dexterity
- Light lifting (occasional 11 kg / 50 lbs or less)
- Assigned safety equipment must be worn at all times (hard hat, safety shoes with metatarsal, safety glasses with side shields, gloves, arm guards)
- Frequent exposure to mechanical moving parts
Required Qualifications:
- Basic measurement competency
- Basic math competency
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment
- Strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
- Secondary / High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of equipment experience using overhead cranes and forklifts.
- PC literacy
- Certified in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.)
- Ability to use power equipment and / or saws to process materials according to customer order requirements.
