As a Senior Strategic Policy Analyst, you will play an essential role in developing and implementing strategic policy that aligns with the ministry’s strategic priorities. Working in the Ministry of Environment, you will collaborate with a talented team of professionals to help address complex policy challenges. This position requires the ability to build strong partnerships across the ministry, think innovatively and help craft policy solutions that drive positive change.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Policy and Engagement in the Strategic Management Services branch, your responsibilities will include:
-*Strategic Policy:*Lead the development of policies and projects that support the ministry to achieve its strategic plan goals. -*Stakeholder Engagement:*Build and maintain strong relationships with ministry and government partners, industry stakeholders and Indigenous communities to contribute to the ministry’s engagement work. -*Intergovernmental Strategy:*Provide advice, coordination, and strategic analysis on the ministry’s FPT work, make recommendations and help to brief senior leadership. -Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis to evaluate current policies, forecast trends, risk analysis and identify areas for improvement. -*Advice and Support:*Provide high-level advice and expertise to management, contributing to sound policy decision-making and ensuring alignment with ministry and provincial priorities. -*Be a Team-Player:*Lead with the Government’s Commitment to Excellence and use strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues at all levels across the ministry to ensure successful project development.
The knowledge and experience required for this role are typically obtained through a master’s degree (e.g., MPA, MSc, MA). An undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience could also be considered.
The ideal candidate for this role requires the following:
- Strategic thinking and policy development skills with the ability to understand and anticipate emerging environmental, social, and economic trends to inform policy development.
- Strong research and analytical skills to interpret data, and to conduct complex policy analysis and provide strategic advice and recommendations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with ministry colleagues and diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive problem identification and solving skills, with the ability to proactively and independently plan and manage complex projects.
- A positive, respectful team player who supports colleagues and contributes to a healthy, collaborative work environment.
- Consistently demonstrate the Government of Saskatchewan’s Commitment to Excellence, including the values of Respect and Integrity, Serving Citizens, Excellence and Innovation, and Acting as One Team.
