DESCRIPTION:
Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. is seeking an experienced and motivated Safety Manager to support and lead our health & safety programs across municipal, commercial, and industrial projects.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong construction background who is committed to maintaining high safety standards and fostering a proactive safety culture on-site.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the construction industry
- Previous experience in a safety-related role
- Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) programs
- Experience with BC 1 Call processes and utility locating
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety practices
- Experience conducting site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Ability to develop and implement safety policies and procedures
- Experience supporting or leading COR audits and compliance
- Familiarity with BC 1 Call requirements and underground utility coordination
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and company safety policies
- Support and maintain the company’s COR program
- Coordinate and verify BC 1 Call tickets and utility locates prior to excavation
- Ensure crews are aware of and working safely around underground utilities
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Deliver safety training and toolbox talks
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors and crews to promote a strong safety culture
- Identify hazards and implement proactive safety improvements
