About the role
The House Person is responsible for the cleanliness of the public and guest areas of the hotel and restaurant.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the cleaning of corridors, guest areas, service areas, and linen closets.
- Empties maids’ trash and linen bags.
- Deposits linen down chute and carries trash to dumpster.
- Vacuums corridors and/or guestrooms.
- Delivers cots and cribs to guestrooms.
- Stocks supplies needed for linen closets.
- Vacuums public areas.
- Sweeps and mops service landings.
- Mops vending machine areas and keeps machines clean.
- Checks all public restrooms for cleanliness several times daily.
- Checks all public restrooms for cleanliness several times daily.
- Checks each floor to make sure fire doors are open.
- Checks elevators for cleanliness.
- Assists with luggage handling.
- Cleans rooms when needed.
- Checks lights and changes bulbs.
- Maintains outside grounds daily.
- Assists in the unloading of deliveries and their proper storage.
- Maintenance of the marquee.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests visiting the workplace.
Mental Effort
- Mental effort required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that require refocusing.
- Listening and mental attentiveness in tasks assigned by Housekeeping Manager.
Physical Effort
- Some heavy lifting required.
- Standing for long periods of time.
Type of Supervision Required
Reports to the Housekeeping Manager. Works under general instructions to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.
