JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Intern to join our team for a 3-6 contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a new or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in occupational health and safety within a dynamic [industry type, e.g., food manufacturing, logistics, etc.] environment. The intern will support the implementation of safety programs, assist with compliance initiatives, and contribute to fostering a safe and healthy workplace culture.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate monthly Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings

  • Ensure all KPI/Safety milestones are completed

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety.

  • Stay informed on relevant health and safety legislation and best practices.

  • Assist in conducting workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

  • Support the development and delivery of safety training and awareness programs.

  • Help maintain and update safety documentation, including policies, procedures, and reports.

  • Assist Plant Safety Leader with completing any monthly safety milestones/dashboard KPIs

  • Participate in incident investigations and assist in tracking corrective actions.

  • Contributes to data collection and analysis for safety performance metrics.

  • Assist in preparing materials for safety meetings and toolbox talks.

  • Attend any team meetings, safety specific meetings as required

  • Assist in any corporate health and safety projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student in Occupational Health and Safety(preferably in 3rd or final year), Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in workplace health and safety and a desire to learn.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset, especially for roles in Quebec.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on site location.
