We are seeking a Senior Software Developer – Electronic Trading Systems with 5–10 years of relevant industry experience to design, develop, enhance, and support high performance trading applications. The successful candidate will work closely with traders, quantitative researchers, Market Access, Infrastructure, Operations, and Compliance teams to deliver reliable, low latency, and scalable trading solutions. This role requires strong C/C++ and Java development experience, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a solid understanding of Linux, networking, databases, multithreading, and modern DevOps practices. Location: Montréal Work mode: On site Your future duties and responsibilities Designed, developed, and maintained high-performance electronic trading applications in collaboration with traders and quantitative researchers. Analyzed business and technical requirements to deliver new trading features, algorithms, and enhancements to existing applications. Optimized trading platforms for performance, low latency, scalability, stability, and reliability. Provided production support by monitoring trading systems, troubleshooting critical production issues, and implementing automation to improve platform stability and reduce operational risk. Collaborated with Market Access, IT Infrastructure, Operations, Back Office, and Compliance teams to ensure reliable market data delivery, order routing, infrastructure availability, and regulatory compliance. Implemented trading functionality in accordance with financial market regulations, including Reg NMS, Reg SHO, and other applicable compliance requirements. Contributed to the continuous improvement of electronic trading platforms by enhancing system resilience, availability, and operational efficiency. Technical Environment Minimum Required Qualifications Required qualifications to be successful in this role 5–10 years of relevant software development or financial technology experience. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Good knowledge of French and English* Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues quickly under pressure. Strong experience with: C/C++ Java and Spring Boot Object oriented programming and design Real time and multi threaded programming Linux systems and low level Linux concepts Network programming, including sockets, TCP/IP, and multicast/UDP technologies SQL and Oracle PL/SQL Python and Bash scripting DevOps and Continuous Delivery practices Jenkins, JUnit, Gradle, and Git Code quality, performance profiling, debugging, and optimization tools Excellent verbal communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience or knowledge of financial markets and electronic trading is an asset but not required. Understanding of multi core architectures and performance optimization. Experience with libraries and technologies such as Boost, Qt, Onload, and VMA. Experience with NoSQL and in memory technologies such as Redis and Memcached. CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000–$135,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
