Détails du poste
Description Power-Link Technologies Ltd. (PLT) is an Alberta-based electrical engineering and field services company. We commission utility substations, power generation facilities — natural gas, diesel, solar, wind and battery energy storage — and industrial plants across Western and Northern Canada. We're a team of roughly 30 engineers and field professionals, which means the person we hire will own real scope on day one instead of waiting three years for a turn. We're looking for an Intermediate Commissioning Technologist to join our field services group and take a lead role on active projects. What you'll actually be doing Executing pre-commissioning and commissioning on substation and generation projects — protection and control checks, functional testing, and energization support Protective relay testing and settings verification (SEL, GE, ABB, Schneider) using secondary injection test sets Primary and secondary equipment testing: CT/PT ratio and polarity, insulation resistance, contact resistance, breaker timing, transformer testing Point-to-point wiring verification, loop checks, and SCADA/RTU point verification with the client's control centre Writing and red-lining commissioning procedures, test forms and turnover packages — and producing reports a client can actually rely on Working directly with client representatives, construction crews and OEM vendors on site Mentoring junior technologists and apprentices in the field What you bring 3–8 years of hands-on electrical testing or commissioning experience A diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, an EIT registration with APEGA, or a journeyman electrician ticket with substantial testing experience — we care more about what you can do at site than which door you came through Comfort reading AC/DC schematics, three-line drawings, logic diagrams and single-line diagrams, and working from them independently Practical experience with test equipment such as Omicron, Doble, or Megger A genuine safety mindset and working knowledge of utility lockout and switching procedures Valid Class 5 driver's licence and a clean driver's abstract Willingness to travel to remote and fly-in sites, including Northern Alberta and the Territories Assets, not requirements C.E.T. designation with ASET NETA Level II or III certification BESS, solar or generation commissioning experience CSTS/CSO, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Protection, or utility-specific safety tickets Experience with ATCO, EPCOR, Fortis or AltaLink standards and processes The honest version of the travel This is a field role. Expect 75% travel, typically in rotations of 8/6, 7/7, 14,7 depending on project. Some sites are fly-in only. Travel, accommodation and meals are covered, and we schedule with your life in mind wherever the project lets us. What we offer $35-65 per hour, depending on experience Overtime and field premiums / LOA as applicable Health spending account RRSP matching Referral program for clients and employees Paid training, test equipment you won't fight with, and support toward NETA or ASET certification A short chain of command — you'll talk to the owner, not a layer of managers How to apply Apply through LinkedIn or send your resume to [email protected]. Tell us one system you commissioned and what went wrong on it — that's the part we want to hear about. We thank all applicants; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
