Position Summary The MEP Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential construction projects. This role analyzes project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs while collaborating with project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients to develop winning proposals. Key Responsibilities · Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements. · Perform quantity takeoffs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and or architectural systems. · Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project expenses. · Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. · Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality or code compliance. · Prepare complete bid packages and submit proposals within established deadlines. · Maintain and update estimating databases, unit pricing, and historical cost information. · Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required. · Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams during project handoff. · Review contract documents and assist in resolving scope gaps or discrepancies. · Monitor market pricing trends and supplier availability to improve estimate accuracy. · Support change order pricing and budgeting throughout the project lifecycle. Qualifications · Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. · Minimum of 3–5 years of estimating experience in MEP construction (or equivalent combination of education and experience). · Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and applicable building codes. · Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. · Experience with estimating software such as Trimble Accubid, QuoteSoft, FastEST, Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar platforms. · Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications. · Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. · Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously. · Effective written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Preferred Qualifications · Professional estimating certification or trade certification. · Experience with BIM/Revit coordination. · Knowledge of LEED, energy-efficient building systems, or sustainable construction practices. · Experience estimating design-build and design-assist projects.
