Job Title Residence Maintenance Worker (weekends) Job Type Flexible Union MRSA Salary Grade Flexible / Casual Classification (Salary Grade) SPH00 Physical Services (Salary Grade 13) Hybrid Work This position is ineligible Position End Date 5/9/2027 Location MRU Main Campus - Calgary, AB T3E 6K6 CA (Primary) About This Position About the Role We are seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant to support weekend maintenance operations within Mount Royal University Residence. This role involves completing routine repairs and general upkeep to help ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning living environment for students. The ideal candidate is able to work independently, follow established procedures, and respond effectively to a variety of maintenance needs. Physical capability, attention to detail, and a flexible, problem-solving approach are essential. Hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00am to 4:00pm (September), Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00pm to 4:00pm (October to April). Extra hours may be assigned as needed/accepted. This position works weekends with possible shifts on every second Friday. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs within the university residence Complete assigned work orders, including basic plumbing, drywall, and painting tasks Safely operate hand and power tools to carry out maintenance duties Set up and work on ladders to complete maintenance tasks as required Assist with snow removal and other seasonal maintenance activities Identify maintenance concerns and report issues to residence or facilities staff Qualifications Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs Comfortable working at heights and using ladders safely Basic maintenance experience and mechanical aptitude Familiarity with using hand and power tools (e.g., drills, hand saws) Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Must have a valid driver’s license for occasional work-related travel, if required Physically able to work in varying conditions, including outdoor winter tasks Salary: $21.87 per hour Closing Date: August 18, 2026 An (optional) cover letter and resume should be submitted in one .pdf formatted document.
