Position Details Term: Part-time, Fixed-Term - Existing Role (September 19, 2026 – May 28, 2027) Hours of Work/Schedule: Up to 5 hours per week for the STEM Club and STEM Academy programs (includes facilitation, prep, meetings). Hours vary based on program assignment. See full Program Locations & Schedules below. Mandatory Training Dates: Saturday September 19, 2026 and Saturday September 26, 2026 Job Location(s): Various locations in Etobicoke, Scarborough, Brampton, and Toronto. See full Program Locations below. Hourly Rate: $ 27.47 The Opportunity As a Youth Program Facilitator, you will play a key role in creating safe, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences for children and youth. You will facilitate workshops, tutoring sessions, hands-on STEM activities, leadership development opportunities, classroom-based learning, community engagement activities, and experiential learning opportunities. Working closely with Program Coordinators, educators, and fellow facilitators, you will help deliver high-quality programming while building meaningful relationships with participants and fostering safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments. Program Locations & Schedules We are hiring Youth Program Facilitators for one or multiple of the following programs: Program Location Time STEM Clubs: Greenholme Greenholme Jr. Middle School 10 Jamestown Crescent, Etobicoke, ON M9V 3M5 Weekly on Thursdays at 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM STEM Clubs: Tecumseh Tecumseh Sr. Public School 720 Scarborough Golf Club Rd, Scarborough, ON M1G 1H7 Weekly on Wednesdays at 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM STEM Academy Balmoral Drive Sr. Public School 233 Balmoral Dr, Brampton, ON L6T 1V5 Weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM Catalyst & Community Engagement Partner Organizations Across the GTA Flexible / Shift-Based: Mondays–Wednesdays: 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM Thursdays: 8:45 AM – 3:00 PM Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (starting Jan 2027) Schedules align with school calendars and exclude holidays, PA days, and school events. Additional hours may occasionally include team meetings, material preparation, or special events. The hours listed for Catalyst & Community Engagement represent the overall operating window across multiple program sites. Key Duties & Responsibilities Program Delivery & Facilitation Facilitate engaging workshops, hands-on activities, tutoring sessions, and experiential learning opportunities using provided lesson plans and program resources. Deliver high-quality programming in alignment with organizational goals, learning outcomes, and program expectations. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to support participants' academic achievement, STEM learning, and skill development. Adapt lesson plans, activities, and tutoring approaches to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of participants. Set up, maintain, and take down program spaces, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment. Support classroom-based learning, community engagement activities, field trips, and special events as required. Program Administration & Evaluation Track attendance and complete required program documentation. Assist with surveys, evaluations, and participant feedback collection. Share participant observations, successes, and concerns with Site Leads and Program Coordinators. Contribute to continuous program improvement through data collection and program evaluation. Participant Engagement & Support Build positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with children and youth. Foster safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments that encourage participation, confidence, and belonging. Support participants' academic, personal, leadership, and social-emotional development. Provide mentorship and serve as a positive role model for participants. Supervise participants and ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Team & Organizational Support Attend required onboarding, training sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities. Prepare, organize, transport, and maintain program materials and supplies. Support one-off events, outreach initiatives, community engagement activities, and other organizational projects as required. Collaborate effectively with Site Leads, Program Coordinators, educators, volunteers, and fellow facilitators to deliver high-quality programming. Represent Visions of Science professionally and positively in interactions with participants, families, schools, community partners, and external stakeholders. What We're Looking For Education & Training Interest in, current study of, or completion of a field related to STEM, education, child and youth care, or social work is preferred Required Experience & Expertise Minimum one (1) year of experience facilitating or leading programs for children and youth, preferably supporting low-income and/or racialized communities. Experience delivering workshops, tutoring, or hands-on group activities Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners (asset, not required) Proven ability to create safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments Demonstrated experience in administrative tasks, such as tracking data/attendance, completing incident reports, and managing schedules. Strong group management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster participation and resolve conflicts constructively Key Competencies & Skills High attention to detail, strong organizational habits, time management, and the ability to handle data/documentation with accuracy and confidentiality. Proficiency with Google Workspace, with an ability to quickly learn program management software or communication tools. Clear written and verbal communication skills across team channels, email, and program logs; strong ability to collaborate with youth, families, and educators. Strong relationship-building skills with youth, families, and educators. Confident facilitation and youth engagement skills; able to lead interactive STEM activities. Dependability, accountability, and consistency in program delivery and completion of administrative deadlines. Adaptability and flexibility to respond to the changing needs of participants, program sites, and schedules. Commitment to fostering inclusive, welcoming, and empowering spaces for children and youth from equity-deserving communities.
